“The Writing’s The Thing”

“The writing’s the thing, I brooded. Why can’t it be that simple?

Because it’s the Literary Ice Age, because the economy’s imploded, and because we need to eat. We want love, shelter, food, and for our completed work to enter the world – and in due course, for someone to notice and like it.

That sequence usually arrives to an artist with a couple of holes in it. Missing one element or another.

When, then, does it become reasonable to cry out?

We pick our moments.”
