Amateur music prof

Music nerd geeking out. I just figured out part of why Motley Crüe feels so good to me. “Dr. Feelgood” has a tempo around 110 bpm. Somewhat but not dangerously elevated heartbeat. Yes I googled it but first I listened, patting my heart and counting. Got the same.

Try it! Maybe with your favorite song. And it feels great. Very comforting.

“Kickstart My Heart” is faster. Not a big surprise there 😉. Starts slower and speeds up like a race car. About 180 bpm/mph. Heart’s like a wheel 🏁

Il Ragazzo Invisibile (2014)

Scena: Michele contro Basili

Blue Purple Red

What do you do

When some you love most

So deeply disappoint?

Blue Purple Red

I see and feel for this

Blue sky blue with swirls of yellow and white

Purple deep living swells of deep emotion alight

Then sharp hurt makes play. Red and passionate,

Like streaks or smoke trails across the sky.

Then it blends and melds into

A symphony of color.

Blue, purple, red.

Becoming?

Muddle.

Eye of the Tiger

Borrowing words/inspiration from guitarist/songwriter Frankie Sullivan today. He’s a founding member of Survivor, and the only permanent one (since 1977). He co-wrote “Eye of the Tiger” with keyboardist Jim Peterik.

Frankie Sullivan, in 2013 at Sweden Rock Festival

Rising up, back on the street
Did my time, took my chances
Went the distance, now I’m back on my feet
Just a man and his will to survive

So many times it happens too fast
You change your passion for glory
Don’t lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive

It’s the eye of the tiger
It’s the thrill of the fight
Rising up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor
Stalks his prey in the night
And he’s watching us all with the eye of the tiger

Face to face, out in the heat
Hanging tough, staying hungry
They stack the odds ’til we take to the street
For the kill with the skill to survive

It’s the eye of the tiger
It’s the thrill of the fight
Rising up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor
Stalks his prey in the night
And he’s watching us all with the eye of the tiger

Rising up straight to the top
Had the guts, got the glory
Went the distance, now I’m not going to stop
Just a man and his will to survive

It’s the eye of the tiger
It’s the thrill of the fight
Rising up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor
Stalks his prey in the night
And he’s watching us all with the eye of the tiger
The eye of the tiger
The eye of the tiger
The eye of the tiger
The eye of the tiger

Real toads

I want to find some real toads

in imaginary gardens

the real toads I imagine

would be more interesting

than the fake ones.

But where would I find these?

In a real garden?

This makes no sense

at all. I can draw toads,

paint frogs, imagine

whatever kinds of frogs I want.

But yet, they are not frogs.

But they are. Stop. Stop

this nonsense. Frog sense

Playing with language,

but not with frogs.

Want them to be real.

So,

I’m thinking of some real toads

And yes,

I do like poetry.

Saturday Manicure

I feel as if I’m
having to learn some very
basic things again.
Like
Not clipping your fingernails
with the toenail clipper
like
not doing five things at once
then wondering why
you’re exhausted.
I wonder
how this scattered mind happened
but I know.
I do know.
So I learn
The weird of the past few years
The GAP as I’m calling it now
is with us everyday.
Every. Day —
Because it is we. We are it.
This is now – and yet, it’s not.
So I pay some mind to my
fingers
Pinch and sway, trying to coax them
back into the grooming that once was
before that GAP — when things we didn’t know
were possible
were yet to be.
I feel like I’m in my ’20s
First grownup apartment
First real grown up job, trying to learn
some basic, human adult things.
Like, not clipping your fingernails
with your toenail clipper.
It’s made to cut straight,
not on a curve. And these times,
They make us curve and curve and
Pivot and pivot ’til we can’t no more
Dammit pivot no more. I am tired.
So I turn to the TV,
Put on a cartoon,
and do my amazing
Manicure.
